A Delicate Crochet Cross Free Pattern

Hi everyone, today I am bringing to you a Delicate Crochet Cross (free pattern). There is something truly special about handmade items. They carry warmth, intention, and a little piece of the maker’s heart. This delicate crochet cross is a beautiful example of how a simple piece of yarn can become a meaningful keepsake.

The video tutorial can be found here:

A Delicate Crochet Cross Free Pattern: A Handmade Symbol of Love and Faith

This crochet cross combines softness and elegance with a symbolic touch. Made with fine stitches and finished with a delicate pink bow, it creates a gentle and comforting design that feels both timeless and heartfelt. The neutral base paired with the soft pink ribbon gives it a sweet and peaceful aesthetic, perfect for celebrating meaningful moments.

This is such a lovely design for a special occasion

Handcrafted crosses like this are often used for special occasions such as baptisms, christenings, confirmations, or religious celebrations. They can also serve as thoughtful handmade gifts, bookmarks for a Bible or prayer book, or small decorative pieces for a nursery or a quiet prayer corner.

Last year for Easter, I crocheted a lovely and simple Cross design. It is a similar pattern, and I just love it so much too!

A Delicate Crochet Cross Free Pattern: A Wonderful Keepsake

One of the things I love most about this crochet cross is it’s simplicity. The shape is clean and elegant, allowing the texture of the stitches to shine. The bow adds a soft decorative element that makes the piece feel even more special without overpowering the design.

This makes a lovely crochet gift too

Crochet is a wonderful way to create items that are both beautiful and meaningful. With just yarn, a hook, and a little time, you can craft something that may be treasured for years. Whether you make it for yourself, for a child’s special day, or as a heartfelt gift, a handmade crochet cross carries a message of care, love, and faith.

If you enjoy creating symbolic crochet pieces, this cross is a lovely project that combines simplicity with elegance. It’s small, delicate, and full of meaning—just the kind of handmade piece that reminds us why we love crochet so much.

Step 1
Step 1

Now we will be crocheting the 2 “sides of the cross”.

Measure 4 rows from the top of the cross, and attach yarn to first side of the cross (make sure you attach the yarn at the top of the 4th row).

1: Place 6 SC across the first edge of the cross, going downwards.

2: Ch 1 (=TC), turn your work, place a HDC into each SC across.

3-4: Repeat row 2

Fasten off. Repeat process on the other side. Once you have crocheted the second side of the cross, do not fasten off.

Step 2
Step 2

Single Crochet Edging

Now we will crocheting the Single Crochet edging all around the cross.

Place a stitch marker in the stitch where you finished your last HDC row.

Single Crochet Edging
Single Crochet Edging

Ch 1 (=TC), place a Single Crochet all the way around the cross; make sure you place your Single Crochets evenly all across the edge, as this will be the “wrong” side of the stitches (meaning the row side, where there are no visible stitches).

Once you have placed your SC all around, slip stitch to your first SC and fasten off (take out your stitch marker).

Tidy up all loose ends.

Crochet the ribbon

With Drops Muskat in shade Powder Pink, chain 170.

Once you have your 170 chains, skip 1 chain and then slip stitch through the second chain and each chain across.

Fasten off, tidy up all loose ends. Now that you have finished the ribbon, place it onto the cross as seen in photo below (back of the cross). Turn the cross over and create ribbon tie shape.
