Hi everyone, today I am bringing to you the crochet Adeline French beret (free pattern). This crochet project is perfect for beginners, and it is so easy to make too! The simple design and shell stitch edging featured in this project is so feminine and delicate.

Crochet Adeline French Beret French Beret: An Easy Design
This crochet design is inspired by my French heritage. Indeed, berets are still as popular now as they ever were in my home country of France. Inspired by the delicate elegance of French fashion, this new crochet design is perfect in all seasons.
I have crocheted many berets in recent years, and that is because they are so lovely and feminine. They make perfect accessories that elevate another simpler look. This traditional French beret I crocheted a few years ago has been a very popular design over time.

This new crochet design is so fresh, it’s perfect for the Spring and Summer. It looks beautiful in many different seasons, and it is very unique. The simple design is crocheted with Double Crochets. Once these Double Crochets are placed, a simple shell stitch edging is added. This creates the most delicate effect, reminiscent of the 1940s.
Crochet Adeline French Beret French Beret: The Yarn
For this project, I used Lion Brand Yarns Feels Like Butta yarn. This yarn is one of my favorites since I discovered it years ago. I have used it many times since first using it. This simple and feminine scrunchie I designed a few years ago features this beautiful yarn. This project has since been very successful, and I still love it to this day!

This yarn is both delicate and soft. It definitely feels like butta, while still retaining a delicate and soft vibe. As I stated previously, I have used this yarn many times before. It is perfect for many projects, from sweaters to smaller accessories such as scrunchies and headbands.
I am definitely going to be using this yarn again, as it comes in lots of beautiful colors too! This lilac shade is so perfect and feminine, and I just love it so much. This beret is so perfect in different colors, but this shade of purple looks lovely for the coming Spring and Summer.

Pattern begins here
Ch 4, sl st to form a ring.
1: Ch 3 (=DC), place 11 DC inside the ring (=12 DC total). Sl st to 1st ch 3 to close off round.
2: Ch 3 (=DC), place another DC inside the first stitch (=2 DC together in one stitch). Place 2 DC inside next DC until eor (=24 DC total). Sl st to 1st ch 3 to close off round.
3: Ch 3 (=DC), place another DC inside the first stitch (=2 DC together in one stitch). Place DC in next st, [2 DC in next st, 1 DC in next st] until eor (=36 DC total). Sl st to 1st ch 3 to close off round.
4: Ch 3 (=DC), place another DC inside the first stitch (=2 DC together in one stitch). [Place DC in next st, 1 DC in next 2 stitches] until oer (=48 DC total). Sl st to 1st ch 3 to close off round.
5: Ch 3 (=DC), place another DC inside the first stitch (=2 DC together in one stitch). [Place DC in next st, 1 DC in next 3 stitches] until oer. Sl st to 1st ch 3 to close off round.
6: Ch 3 (=DC), place another DC inside the first stitch (=2 DC together in one stitch). [Place DC in next st, 1 DC in next 4 stitches] until oer. Sl st to 1st ch 3 to close off round.
7: Ch 3 (=DC), place another DC inside the first stitch (=2 DC together in one stitch). [Place DC in next st, 1 DC in next 5 stitches] until oer. Sl st to 1st ch 3 to close off round.
8-12: Repeat this process, of adding 12 stitches per round. You can achieve this by always adding 1 DC on its own in every section of each round. A section of a round is the part between the 2 DCs in one stitch which are spaced all around the rounds evenly.
For example, round 8 will be as follows:
Ch 3 (=DC), place another DC inside the first stitch (=2 DC together in one stitch). Place DC in next 6 st, [2 DC in next st, DC in next 6 st] until oer. Sl st to 1st ch 3 to close off round.

Round 13 (to create beret shape)
Ch 1 (=TC), SC in 1st stitch, place your stitch marker in this stitch. [Sk 2 st, SC in next st] until eor; sl st to first SC to close off round and remove stitch marker.

If you notice this round is too “tight”, please just skip 1 stitch between each SC instead of skipping 2 stitches.
14: Ch 2 (=HDC), HDC in next stitch until eor; slip stitch to first chain 2 to close off round.
15-16: Repeat round 14.
17 (shell stitch round): Ch 1 (=TC), SC into same 1st stitch, [sk 2 st, 5 DC into next stitch, sk 2 st, SC] until last 5 stitches; sk 1 st, SC, sk 1 st, 5 DC, sk 1 st and slip stitch to first chain 1 to close off round.
Fasten off, tidy up all loose ends.
