Crochet Bobble Stitch Pouch Free Pattern

Hi everyone, today I am bringing to you the crochet bobble stitch pouch (free pattern). This crochet pattern is both simple and lovely, perfect for all seasons. Crocheted with cotton yarn, this project can be made in many different colors too. I love this new crochet design so much!

You can find the video tutorial for this project here:

Crochet Bobble Stitch Pouch Free Pattern: The Design

I have been wanting to crochet a bobble stitch pouch for a long time now. Indeed, I love the bobble stitch, and I love pouches so much too! This new design is not only feminine and fashionable, but also very practical for day to day use. Indeed, I plan on using this project a lot going forward. I love the idea of having a little pouch that I can throw into my had bag containing all my precious and smaller things (such as my car keys or lipstick!).

This pouch features one of my favorite stitches. I used the half double crochet bobble stitch for this pouch. This creates a unique and very modern touch to an otherwise plain project. This pattern is perfect for all levels of crochet, as it is very repetitive and easy to follow.

This is such a practical project to make!

I love this new design so much! Let me know what you think of this crochet pouch, that I really enjoyed making. I know that I will be making many more of this project as this makes a great gift for a loved one too! A few years ago, I crocheted this lovely dainty purse.

Crochet Bobble Stitch Pouch Free Pattern: The Materials

For this design, I used one of my favorite yarns, called 24/7 Cotton DK by Lion Brand Yarns. This yarn is 100% cotton, and such a joy to crochet with. Indeed, this crochet cotton yarn is perfect for many different projects, especially accessories such as bags, purses or even headbands.

Last year, I crocheted this lovely hair bow with this very yarn (in a ruby red shade). This is one of my favorite crochet accessories to date.

This is a very fun purse to crochet!

For this bobble pouch design, I also added a little zipper as this is so handy to have. I also added a floral printed lining to this pouch. This adds a lot of detail to an otherwise simple project, and I hope you enjoy all the different steps.

To begin

To start, make a slip knot.

Chain 24

1: HDC into 3rd ch from hook (first ch 2 counts as a HDC), and place a HDC into each ch until eor.

2: ch 1 (=does not count as a stitch), turn your work; place a SC into the first stitch; now place a puff stitch into the next stitch as follows [yarn over, go into next st, yarn over and pull through the st (you will have 3 loops on your hook). Repeat this process 3 more times, you should have 9 loops on your hook; now yarn over and pull through all 9 loops]; Ch 1. Place a SC into next st.

[Place a puff st into the next st, then SC into next st] until eor. Finish row on a SC.

3: ch 2 (=HDC), turn your work, HDC into next stitch and every stitch until eor.

4-32: Alternate rows 2 and 3 (finishing on a row 3).

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing the project in later on.

Once you have finished creating this part, we will be sewing the zipper into the project; we will simultaneously sew the project in on both sides. Then we will be sewing in the lining into the pouch.

Sew the zipper into the project

For this part, we will begin by sewing one side of the zipper to one side of the project; I started with sewing the first side of the zipper to the project, and then sewing in the sides of the pouch together. Once this is done, we will be sewing the other side of the zipper to the other side of the project (you can turn the project the right way around for this part).

Place your project on a flat surface, with the wrong side facing. Attach one side of the zipper across the top edge, securing the zipper with the help of sewing pins. With darning needle and thread, sew the first side of the zipper onto the wrong side of the project.

Now sew both sides of the pouch together, using a tapestry needle and yarn. For this part, I recommend using the mattress stitch.

Once this is completed, we will be sewing the other side of the zipper to the other side of the project (see photo below).

Once this is completed, you can sew in a lining as explained below.

Sew in your lining

Cut a piece of clothe the entire size of the project, including a 1,5” border on every side.

Now fold you clothe over so that the wrong side is facing, and fold over the edges so that when we sew the lining into the project, the sides will be neat (see photo below).

Before placing the fabric into the project, we will first sew both sides of the fabric using the darning needle and thread.

Now secure your fabric into the pouch, using the sewing pins to secure the fabric in the project.

Using the darning needle and thread, sew the lining into the pouch (sew the top of the fabric to the top of the project. You will be going over the zipper at this point).

Now fasten off, and tidy up all loose ends.
