Crochet Coquette Phone Cover/Case Free Pattern

Hi everyone, today I am bringing to you the crochet Coquette Phone cover/case free pattern. This crochet pattern is perfect for all seasons, and it is very beginner friendly. Crocheted with cotton yarn, this phone case is inspired by the Coquette aesthetic.

The video tutorial can be found here:

Crochet Coquette Phone Cover/Case Free Pattern: The Inspiration

This new crochet pattern is inspired by the Coquette aesthetic. Indeed, this phone/tablet case features a lovely feminine shape, and a delicate bow that is used as a little fastening. This crochet cover is very feminine, typical of the Coquette aesthetic.

This crochet project is so feminine

If you are unfamiliar with the Coquette aesthetic, please continue reading. Indeed, the Coquette aesthetic is defined as follows. In French, the word coquette means a “feminine woman who takes care of her appearance in a lighthearted way”. The “Coquette Aesthetic” has been very popular in the last few years, and it is characterized by a few details we will be discussing now. This trend features very feminine details such as pearls, flowers, pastel colors (think pinks and creams), as well as bow and lace.

To say that I love this trend is an understatement. This romantic ribbon bag I crocheted last year matches this phone cover design perfectly! It features the same colors (pink and cream), as well as a ribbon detail. I love this crochet bag so much, and I am so excited to be wearing this again with my matching phone cover.

Crochet Coquette Phone Cover/Case Free Pattern: The Yarn

For this project, I used light 100% cotton yarn. I crocheted the main part of the phone cover with Rowan Cotton Glace in shade Ecru. This yarn is very high quality, and it is considered a DK/Light 3 yarn, however I do think it is on the lighter side. I decided to use a 3 mm crochet hook to make this project. The Constance Prayer Shawl I made a year ago features this beautiful yarn.

I love this Coquette bow so much

For this pink bow, I used a simple mercerized cotton DK/light 3 yarn (Sirdar Cotton DK in shade Blossom). These yarns can be substituted with a cotton yarn of your preference; if you decide to use a different yarn, please make sure this yarn is of a DK/Light 3 weight. You can also swatch your yarn before you begin your project.

I will be giving the pattern for a specific size which I have detailed in the pattern. This size is for a regular phone. You can however change the base chain I give in the pattern so that you can adapt it to fit a tablet, idpad or your specific phone.

General notes concerning this pattern

For this project, we will be crocheting 2 different pieces to create the phone cover.

First we will be crocheting a long rectangle that will be the front and back panels in the rounds; then we will be making the V shaped front flap.

Once all these items have been made, they will be assembled and sewed as explained below. We will then be crocheting the little pink bow and sewing it onto the project.

Project

Pattern begins here

Create rectangle that will be the front and back panels (this part is crocheted in the rounds).

Make a slip knot, ch 38.

1: HDC in 3rd ch from hook (first ch 2 counts as a HDC), HDC into each ch until eor. Once you have created your initial chain, slip stitch to the first chain that you made, making sure not to twist the chain.

2: Ch 2 (=HDC), HDC into 2nd HDC from previous row, and into each HDC until eor (including ch 2 from previous row).

3-23: Repeat row 2.

Fasten off.

Flap

To start, make a slip knot; ch 4, sl st through 1st st to form a ring.

1: Ch 4 (=DC + ch space), 3 DC in the ring; ch 2, 3 DC in the ring; ch 1, 1DC. Make sure you work your loose end as you place your stitches into the ring (so as to pull this loose end and close off ring one you have finished your shawl).

2: Turn your work; ch 4 (1 DC + ch space); in first chain space from previous row, place 3 DC and ch 1; going directly into the next space (which is also the center), place 3 DC, ch 2, 3 DC, ch 1; in next ch space, 3 DC, ch 1, 1 DC.

3: Turn your work, ch 4 (1 DC +ch space), 3 DC in chain space, ch 1; in next space, 3 DC, ch 1; in next space (center) 3 DC, ch 2, 3 DC, ch 1; in next ch space, 3 DC, ch 1; in next chain space, 3 DC, ch 1, 1 DC.

4: repeat row 3, following the repeat pattern explained above. The wrap will naturally increase following this pattern.

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Sew flap onto the project

Crochet and sew your ribbon onto the project

Crochet your ribbon as follows:

With your pink yarn, chain 40; skip the first chain, then slip stitch through second chain and each chain across until end of chain.

Fasten off, tidy up your loose end.

Fold your ribbon over twice and create a bow shape by tying a knot in the middle. Now you will be sewing your ribbon onto the front panel of the project.

Place your ribbon as seen in photograph below, making sure it is centered and straight.

With darning thread and needle, secure each ornament one by one onto the flap of the bag.

Fasten off and tidy up all loose ends.

Sewing project together

Place your rectangle on a flat surface; attach a piece of yarn at the bottom of the project. Now start sewing the seam at the bottom using the mattress stitch.

Sew on the flap to the back panel

Secure your flap onto the back panel with sewing pins (optional). Sew the flap onto back panel, fasten off and tidy up loose ends.

Turn your project inside out so that the right side is now facing.
