Crochet Crossbody Bag Free Pattern: A Lovely Project
This crossbody bag is so pretty and perfect for beginners too. Crossbody bags have been so popular recently. Indeed, these bags (especially those featuring granny squares) have really made a come back of late.
A few years ago, I crocheted The Sweet Sixteen Bag which is also a crossbody bag. This crochet bag also features a granny square design. The Suzette Boho Bag is a great project for beginners, and it is also a lovely example of a crossbody bag.
I love crocheted crossbody bags, as they are so practical and pretty too. Also, these bags can be made with your favorite yarn, such as cotton or wool. These different yarns will give a different vibe that is suitable for different seasons (such as Winter or Summer, for example).

General notes concerning this pattern
For this project, we will be crocheting 4 different granny squares to create bag. Each granny square features 3 different shades of pink as described below (in pattern).
Once these squares are crocheted, they will be stitched together to create the bag shape. Then a simple edging will be added to the top of the project, before the strap is sewed onto the bag with a darning needle and thread.
Pattern begins here
You will be crocheting 2 squares as follows
To start, make a slip knot.
Ch 4, sl st through 1st stitch to form a ring.
1: With shade Rose, ch 3 (=DC throughout), 2 DC inside ring; [ch 2, 3 DC] inside ring 3 more times, ch 2, sl st to beginning ch 3.
Fasten off shade Rose, attach shade Blush.
2: Ch 3, turn your work, 2 DC into same space, ch 2, 3 DC inside ch sp from previous row (= 3DC, ch 2, 3DC which forms a corner). [Go directly into next sp, 3 DC, ch 2, 3 DC] 3 more times. Sl st to first 3 ch to join round.
Fasten off shade Blush, attach shade Deep Fuschia.
3: Ch 3, turn your work, 2 DC inside space (=3 DC). [Go directly into next sp with 3 DC, ch 2, 3 DC (=corner); 3 DC into the next space] 3 times. In last space place 3 DC, ch 2, 3 DC (corner). Sl st to close off round.
Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Sewing project together
On a flat surface, place your 4 squares as demonstrated in the photograph below:
With tapestry needle and yarn in shade Deep Fuschia, stitch all your squares together using the mattress stitch to create the bag shape.
Once you have sewed all your squares together, tidy up all your loose ends.
Now we will be crocheting a simple Single Crochet edging at the top of the project.
Add Single Crochet Edging to top of project
Attach yarn in shade Deep Fuschia on any stitch at the top of the project.
Round 1: Ch 1 (=SC), place a SC into each stitch across at the top of the project (see photograph below).
Once you have gone all the way around, slip stitch to the first ch 1 at the beginning of the round. Fasten off shade Deep Fuschia, attach yarn in shade Blush.
Round 2: Ch 1 (=SC), place a SC into every SC from the previous round (see photograph below). Slip stitch to first chain 1 to close off round.
Fasten off and tidy up all loose ends.
How to clip strap onto the project
Clip both sides of the faux leather strap onto the project as seen in photograph below.
