It’s no secret that I love crocheted headbands. Indeed, crochet headbands are so perfect, especially in the Spring and Summer. They have such a feminine and bohemian vibe, perfect for those chilled days out at the beach or in town. I love headbands and will never tire of designing new ones year after year!
This new crochet headband features a lovely and delicate picot edging. This feminine edging elevates an otherwise very simple headband. I love picot edgings so much, and can’t wait to crochet a scrunchie featuring this beautiful stitch.

This headband makes for a perfect crochet gift. Indeed, it looks beautiful in all seasons, and can be made in a myriad of different colors too. I can’t wait to crochet this headband in lots of different colors!

Crochet Delicate Pink Headband Free Pattern: The Yarn

For this project, I used Lion Brand Coboo yarn. This yarn is so soft, and it is perfect for the warmer months. Indeed, this yarn is made from 49% rayon from bamboo and 51% cotton. It not only looks stunning, but it feels wonderful to crochet with. I have made many a project using this yarn, and I’m sure I will be making many more patterns with this lovely yarn.

This is a great project for beginners!

This delicate hair bow was made using this very yarn, and it definitely is one of my favorite projects to date. This yarn is lightweight and high quality, perfect for those Spring and Summer patterns!

I am currently crocheting a Summer top using Coboo yarn, and I am hoping to finish it and release it this Summer. Let me know in the comments if you would be excited to crochet this project.

Notes

I will be using US terms in this pattern (British terms in brackets).

Gauge

Gauge is not crucial for the completion of this project.

Size of finished project (before sewing)

1,5โ€ x 16โ€ (4 cm x 40,5 cm)

Materials

1 skein of Lion Brand Yarn Coboo in shade Pink (or any other cotton yarn in DK/Light 3 yarn)

A 4 mm crochet hook

A tapestry needle

Pair of scissors

A simple elastic band

Abbreviations

I will be writing in US terms (British terms in brackets)

Ch: chain

Sk: skip

SP: space

Sl st: Slip stitch

HDC: Double Crochet (UK Half Treble Crochet)

SC: Single Crochet (UK Double Crochet)

EOR: End of row

Pattern

Ch 70 (this pattern requires a multiple of 2)

1: HDC in 3rd ch from hook (first 2 ch counts as a HDC), HDC into next ch until the end of the chain.

2: Ch 3 (=HDC+1 ch sp), turn your work, HDC into 3rd stitch, *ch 1, sk 1 ch, HDC in next st* until EOR.

3: Ch 2 (=HDC), turn your work, HDC in next stitch until eor (including chain spaces from previous row).

Picot edging:

We will be crocheting the picot edging firstly across the last row that we made, before slip stitching through the first side of the project so as to be able to crochet the second pictot edging row across the other side of the project (which is also the chain from the beginning).

Picot edging row: ch 1 (=TC), place a SC into first stitch; SC into next 2 stitches; chain 3, slip stitch through the front stitches of the SC to finish off this stitch (picot stitch); [place a SC into next 3 stitches, chain 3, slip stitch through the front stitches of the SC to finish off this stitch] until you reach the last 2 stitches. In the penultimate stitch, you should have placed a picot stitch; place a SC into last stitch.

Now turn your work so as to work across the short โ€œsideโ€ of the headband; place slip stitches across this side so as to reach the other side of the headband, so we can work our second row of Picot stitches across the chain side from the beginning.

Turn your work again and repeat row of the Picot edging, this time working the stitches across the other side of the headband, which is also the chain side.

Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew the elastic band to the project.
