Crochet Easy Fluffy Scrunchie

Hi everyone! I hope you are well and enjoyed a lovely Christmas. Today I am bringing to you a brand new project on how to crochet an easy fluffy scrunchie. It is a great and quick project to crochet, and I used the end of a Latte Cake by Caron. This yarn, which is so fluffy, makes this scrunchie very seasonal, perfect for Winter.

This scrunchie is so cute

This crochet scrunchie can be whipped up in a matter of minutes, and makes a perfect gift for a special daughter or grand daughter.

Crochet Easy Fluffy Scrunchie: a very feminine crochet accessory

Caron’s Latte Cake is a very fluffy and soft yarn. It works up beautifully, and creates a very feminine and cute scrunchie. It is 100% acrylic, so it is soft and delicate against the skin or hair. I love this yarn so much, and I have used it many times for my crochet projects.

Crochet Easy Fluffy Scrunchie: a very simple pattern

This is such a quick project!

This crochet scrunchie is crocheted following a very simple pattern. Indeed, rows of half double crochets are worked up until the project measures the right length. This project can be crocheted by a very beginner crocheter, and works up very quickly.

The yarn adds a lot of dimension and character to this project. I love using seasonal yarns depending on the time of  year, and this yarn really makes this scrunchie perfect for Winter.

Do you love scrunchies as much as me? I know I love making these cute and quick projects as gifts. Also, I love making these for myself too!

Level: Easy

Notes: I will be writing in US terms

Gauge: Gauge is not crucial for completion of this project

Size of project before sewing: 3.5″x27″ (7.60×68 cm)

Materials:

1 skein of Caron Latte Cake (shade Plum Fresh)

5 mm crochet hook

A 7” elastic piece

Tapestry needle

Pair of scissors

Safety Pin

Abbreviations:

Ch: Chain

Sl st: Slip stitch

HDC: Half Double Crochet (UK Half Treble Crochet)

St: Stitch

EOR: End of row

Start pattern here:

Make a slip knot, and ch 14

Complete rows as follows:

1: HDC into 3rd ch from hook, and into every ch until eor (first ch 2=HDC)

2: Ch 2 (=HDC), turn your work, HDC into 2nd st and into every st until eor

3-50: repeat row 2

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing

Sewing and finishing off your scrunchie:

Fold the long strip of HDC in half lengthwise, and sew both sides together. Once you have sewed this part, turn your project inside out so that the seam is inside it.

It’s now time to put in your elastic band into the project. Take the elastic band and place the safety pin on one end. Scrunch up your scrunchie, and pop your elastic band through it; once this is done, tie both sides of the elastic band together.

Fasten on a piece of yarn to the edge of the seam of the scrunchie. Sew in the seam as neatly as possible (using the mattress stitch if possible), making sure to place all your loose ends inside the scrunchie.

Fasten off, tidy up all loose ends if you have any.
