Hi everyone, today I am bringing to you the crochet easy hook case (free pattern). This crochet project is beautiful and dainty; I love this project so much! Featuring a unique design and shell stitch edging, this crochet case is very versatile too.

Crochet Easy Hook Case Free Pattern: The Inspiration

I had been wanting to crochet a feminine hook case for a long time now. Indeed, I love crocheting purses and pouches. This lovely and feminine pouch is one of my favorite projects to date. It is also versatile as a project!

This lovely envelope purse is also a great and versatile project. Inspired by Pinterest, this dainty purse is also a great crochet purse that can have many different uses. I can honestly say I love crocheting cases and purses as these are pretty but also very useful day to day.

For a long time now I have wanted to crochet a hook case specifically for crochet. I love having a specific and organized space for my favorite hooks and crochet “tools”. This new crochet project features lots of specific and organized spaces for my hooks and tools. I love it!

Crochet Easy Hook Case Free Pattern: Organizing Your Crochet Tools

This hook case is perfect if you are wanting to organize your crochet tools. As I had said prior, I have wanted to create a feminine and beautiful hook case for a long time. A few years ago I made this hook and pencil case which features a unique granny square design.

Today I wanted to bring you an even better organizational case for your crochet. It features little pockets and is perfect for a more detailed way to organize your crochet. I used the Griddle stitch for this project (also called the Lemon Peel stitch).

Notes

I will be using US terms (British terms in brackets).

Materials

2 skeins of Drops Muskat in shade Desert Pink (or any other light 3/DK 100% cotton yarn)

1 skein of Drops Muskat in shade Peach (or any other light 3/DK 100% cotton yarn)

4 mm crochet hook

A tapestry needle

A pair of scissors

2 pearl/floral 15 mm buttons (purchased from Amazon)

Darning thread and needle

Sewing pins (optional)

Abbreviations

Ch: chain

Sk: skip

Sp: space

Sl st: Slip stitch

SC: Single Crochet (UK Double Crochet)

DC: Double Crochet (UK Treble Crochet)

HDC: Half Double Crochet (UK Half Treble Crochet)

EOR: End of row/end of round

Gauge

4” (10 cm): 16 stitches

4” (10 cm): 14 rows

Size of finished hook case

8” (20 cm) x 13” (33 cm)

General notes concerning this pattern

For this project, we will be crocheting 4 different pieces to create case.

First we will be crocheting a long rectangle that will be the front and back panels (once folded); then we will be making 3 different “compartments” which will later be folded and stitched inside the crochet hook case to create the different compartments.

Once all these items have been made, they will be assembled and sewed as explained below. Then the simple floral buttons will be stitched to this project, as well as the hook and loop fastening.

Once this is done we will be adding the simple Single Crochet border all around the crochet case.

Pattern begins here

Create rectangle that will be the front and back panels once folded

With shade Desert Rose, make a slip knot, ch 32.

1: SC in 4^th ch from hook (first ch 3 counts as a DC), [DC into next ch, SC into next stitch] until eor.

2: Ch 3 (=DC), turn your work, SC into next stitch, [DC into next stitch, SC into next stitch] until eor.

3-42: Repeat row 2.

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing in seam.

Compartment Number 1

With shade Peach, make a slip knot and chain 20.

1: HDC into 3^rd chain from hook, HDC into each chain until eor.

2: Ch 2 (=HDC), turn your work, place a HDC into second stitch and each ch across.

3-13: Repeat row 2.

Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew in project.

Compartment Number 2

With shade Peach, make a slip knot and chain 18.

1: HDC into 3^rd chain from hook, HDC into each chain until eor.

2: Ch 2 (=HDC), turn your work, place a HDC into second stitch and each ch across.

3-9: Repeat row 2.

Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew in project.

Compartment Number 3 (envelope)

With shade Peach, make a slip knot and chain 18

1: HDC into 3^rd chain from hook, HDC into each chain until eor.

2: Ch 2 (=HDC), turn your work, place a HDC into second stitch and each ch across.

3-7: Repeat row 2.

Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew in project.

Create envelope shape (including sewing and button placement)

Fold this little part into 3 equal parts. The top layer will be the envelope flap and opening, so we will only be sewing the two sides for now (the inside fold will be the bottom of the envelope).

With tapestry needle and loose end, sew the first side using the mattress stitch (or your preferred stitch). Now fasten off and tidy up all loose ends.

Now with tapestry needle and piece of yarn (or loose end), sew the second side of the envelope in using the same method as the first side.

Fasten off, tidy up all loose ends.

Now place your button on the front of the envelope, making sure it is centered (see photograph above). With darning needle and thread, sew the button onto the front flap of this envelope.

Once you have done this, we can start sewing the compartments onto the project.

Sewing compartments onto the project

Place your rectangle on a flat surface, and place your 3 different compartments as seen in photograph below:

Start sewing compartment number 1 on the bottom left side as seen in picture above. Start sewing at the top left angle, going all the way around until you reach the top right angle, leaving the top of compartment unsewed.

Use a piece of yarn and tapestry needle for this part, making sure you are light handed and that the stitch does not appear on the front side of the crochet hook case. If you need more help for this part please have a look at my video tutorial linked in this pattern.

Once you have finished this part, you can start sewing 5 individual vertical stitches across this first compartment so that this will create a more secure compartment for your hook (see photograph below).

For this part, use a loose piece of yarn and tapestry needle, making sure you use a light stitch that will not show on the front of the case.

Fasten off, tidy up all loose ends.

Sew compartment 2 & 3 onto the project (right side of project)

Sew your next two compartments onto the right side of the project, using the same delicate stitch as before.

The large compartment will be sewed onto the bottom right side; sew the envelope onto the top right side.

Fasten off, tidy up all loose ends.

Create hook and loop fastening

Fold your project over to create final shape.

Attach yarn to the back of the project, making sure it is at the center.

Chain 18, and without twisting chain, attach to the same stitch where you began. Now slip stitch through second chain and then slip stitch through each chain across until you reach the last chain.

Fasten off, tidy up all your loose ends.
