Crochet Gentle Rose Cocoon Cardigan Free Pattern: The Granny Square

I love this cardigan so much! Indeed, I have wanted to crochet such a cardigan for a long time. Indeed, this garment is really useful for the colder months such as the ones we are experiencing now.

This cardigan is crocheted using the the classic granny square as it’s base. This makes for a very elegant and design. I love the granny square so much, as it is so relaxing to crochet. If you enjoy granny squares, you can find this easy vintage baby blanket on my blog. This blanket features a granny square and a thick elegant border.

You will also enjoy The Red Velvet Cardigan, which is also a granny square cardigan. These projects are all perfect for beginners too. I know I love a good granny square project to crochet.

Crochet Gentle Rose Cocoon Cardigan Free Pattern: The Yarn

The Gentle Rose Cocoon Cardigan is crocheted with Drops Air yarn. This yarn was such a delight to crochet with. It is super soft and contains baby alpaca and merino. I had used this yarn before to crochet The Delicate Twist Headband. This headband is perfect for the colder months, and has been a huge success.

This wool blend yarn is therefore very warm, but is still oh so soft! I have completely fallen in love with this soft and very airy yarn. It is very light too, making this a perfect yarn to crochet larger projects with such as cardigans or jumpers. I really want to crochet a sweater with this yarn now.

The color also is so pretty and feminine. I cannot recommend this yarn enough, and can’t wait to use it again. Let me know if you have ever crocheted with this yarn before, I would love to know! I know I will be using it often now.

Crochet Gentle Rose Cocoon Cardigan Free Pattern: The Design

This crochet design is inclusive as it comes in sizes S to XXXL. It is perfect if you are a beginner. This cardigan is crocheted using a Granny Square as a base, before it is sewed together to create the shape. The sleeves are then crocheted using a simple Double Crochet pattern, before a lovely chain arch edging is added.

The same principle is used for the front opening of the cardigan. A simple Double Crochet row is crocheted at the front, before a chain arch edging is added. This makes for a very delicate and feminine cardigan, perfect for all seasons.

I am so in love with this light weight and delicate cocoon cardigan! I know I will be wearing it so often during the colder months, and cannot wait to show it off.

Let me know if you crochet this cardigan, and if you love it as much as I do!
