Crochet Lily Scarf Free Pattern: The Design
The entire scarf is worked in half double crochet (HDC). This stitch is one of my favorites for simple crochet projects because it works up quickly while creating a beautifully soft and slightly textured fabric. The half double crochet also gives the scarf enough drape to sit comfortably around the neck without feeling too bulky.
This crochet scarf can be made in many different colors
For this project, you will need your favorite crochet yarn in the color of your choice, together with a crochet hook suitable for your yarn. I chose a bright red yarn for this version, but this design would look beautiful in so many colors. Try cream, black, red, burgundy, pastel pink, sage green, or even a variegated yarn for a completely different look.
I used Stylecraft Simply DK in shade Lipstick for this scarf design. This is my favorite red shade ever, and I just find myself go back to it over and over. This elegant French beret I made a year ago matches this scarf perfectly, by the way! As I also used the same yarn for it.

To begin, make a slip knot.
Ch 4
1: HDC into 3rd ch from hook (first ch 2 counts as a HDC, therefore you have 3 HDCs for this row).
2: Ch 2 (=HDC), turn your work, place HDC into the same 1st stitch (= 2 HDC together in one stitch), HDC in next stitch until eor; place 2 HDCs into the last stitch (which is also the chain 2 from previous row) = 5 HDC.
3: Ch 2 (=HDC), turn your work, place HDC into the same 1st stitch (= 2 HDC together in one stitch), HDC in next stitch until eor; place 2 HDCs into the last stitch (which is also the chain 2 from previous row) = 7 HDC.
4: Ch 2 (=HDC), turn your work, place HDC into the same 1st stitch (= 2 HDC together in one stitch), HDC in next stitch until eor; place 2 HDCs into the last stitch (which is also the chain 2 from previous row) = 9 HDC.

139 (beginning of decrease rows): Ch 1 (=TC), turn your work, skip first stitch; HDC into next stitch until eor; leave last stitch unworked (this last stitch is also the chain 2 from previous row).
