Crochet Summer Love Scrunchie Free Pattern: The Yarn

For this project, I used Drops Paris yarn. This yarn is so pretty and delicate, and it is very easy to work with. I have used this yarn many times. This easy market bag was crocheted with this yarn, and it is still to this day one of my favorite projects ever.

This yarn comes in many different colors, and it is of very high quality. The fact that this is an aran weight cotton yarn is such a bonus! Indeed, this yarn works up very quickly, and it is perfect for accessories such as a bags, scrunchies and headbands.

For the summer, I do love to crochet accessories. Indeed, in the summer these accessories are not only useful but also so pretty! I love these crochet accessories so much, and I can’t wait to continue making them!

Materials

1 skein of Drops Paris in shade Vanilla (or any of your preferred aran/medium yarn)

A 5 mm crochet hook

A simple elastic

Tapestry needle

A pair of scissors

Safety Pin

Abbreviations

Ch: Chain

St: Stitch

Sl st: Slip stitch

HDC: Half Double Crochet (UK Half Treble Crochet)

EOR: End of round

Start pattern here

Make a slip knot, and ch 14.

1: HDC into 3^rd ch from hook, and into every ch until eor (first ch 2=HDC). Place your elastic band on top of this first row, before slip stitching to your 1^st chain 2 from beginning.

This will secure the elastic band so that going forward you will be crocheting all your rounds around this elastic band.

2: Ch 2 (=HDC), turn your work, HDC into 2^nd st and into every st until eor. Slip stitch to first chain 2 to close off round.

3-36: repeat row 2.

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Sew your project in with the loose end and tapestry needle, using the mattress stitch. Once you have gone all the way around, fasten off and tidy up all loose ends.
