I love my Vintage Crochet Series.

This crochet shawl is inspired by the Regency Era, which took place in England between 1795 to 1837. This is such a beautiful Regency Era wrap. When I saw all the delicate and feminine pearls embroidered across the shawl, I was truly inspired to recreate my own crochet version. This crochet shawl is so delicate and out of this world beautiful, very typical of the Regency Era.

I have quite a few Regency Era wraps and accessories in this series. Let me know if you make any more! These crochet projects are all reminiscent of times gone by, where balls, beautiful gowns and rakes were in fashion. I love this era, which is so full of romance and splendor!

Crochet The Daphne Regency Era Wrap Free Pattern: the inspiration

My crochet version is also very typical of the Regency Era. It is a long and slim accessory, made in fine DK/light 3 weight yarn, as this made this shawl all the more delicate and dainty. I used the color blue, as this is a also a very girly color. After that, I stitched diamanté and pearl ornaments across this wrap, trying to space them out evenly (full details of how I did this in the pattern down below). This was such a fun project, as I had never yet stitched such beautiful ornaments onto any of my projects.

Adding these beautiful rhinestone embellishments was such a delight! These beautiful ornaments add a lot of elegance to an otherwise simple wrap.

They also are very typical of the Regency Era. Lovely and feminine, they make this wrap very beautiful and sparkly.

This makes me so happy, as I always love to see people enjoying romance and good stories. I have yet to read this series, but am very much looking forward to doing that! I just need to find time to read in my busy schedule of being a full time blogger and full time mummy!

Level: Easy +

Gauge: 4” (10 cm) = 14 stitches

4” (10 cm) = 5 rows

Gauge is not crucial for completion of this project

Size of finished shawl: 16”x72” (41×182 cm)

Materials

4 skeins of Stylecraft Special DK in shade Sherbet, or any other DK/light 3 yarn that you prefer

4,5 mm crochet hook

Tapestry needle

Pair of scissors

Embellishments of your choice (I used 21 faux pearl embellishments in total)

Darning needle and thread in light blue

Abbreviations

I will be writing in US terms (British terms in brackets)

Ch: chain

Sk: skip

SP: space

St: stitch

SC: Single Crochet (UK Double Crochet)

TC: Treble Crochet (UK Double Treble Crochet)

Sl st: Slip stitch

EOR: End of row

Pattern

Ch 55

Complete rows as follows:

1: Place a TC into 5^th ch from hook and into each ch until eor (first 4 ch counts as a TC) = 52 TC

2: ch 4 (=counts as TC throughout), place a TC into next st, and every st until eor

3-77: repeat row 2

Chain arch edging

Round 1:

Ch 1 (does not count as st), turn your work. Place a SC into each stitch across until you reach the corner. In corner, place 2 SC together in same st; turn work so as to work along the side edge, and place SC all along this edge, as equally spaced as possible (this is the “wrong” side of the stitches, and no specific amount of SC is required). Once you reach the corner, place 2 SC together in same stitch. Repeat this process until you have gone round the whole project. Once you reach the end of the last row, sl st to first ch 1 to close the round.

Round 2:

[Ch 3, sk a stitch, SC into next st] all the way around until the end of the round. Sl st to first st to close this round.

Fasten off, tidy up all loose ends.

Placing embellishments onto project

Place your project flat, with the right side facing.

Now place your faux pearl embellishments onto your project as follows:

To begin, count 2 rows down, and place 2 smaller embellishments on either side of your project (count 6/7 stitches from each edge).

With darning needle and thread, stitch the embellishments onto project.

Now count 5/6 rows down, and place your bigger embellishment at the center of the 5^th or 6^th row (depending on your preference). Stitch this embellishment onto your project with darning needle and thread.

Carry on with this process, always counting 5 to 6 rows between each embellishment row. Alternate 2 smaller embellishments on one row with a single bigger embellishment in the center (as seen on photograph).
