Crochet Mint Heart Sweater Pattern

Hi everyone, this week I am bringing to you a brand tutorial for a crochet the Crochet Mint Heart Sweater Pattern. This crochet sweater is perfect for every season, and can be crocheted by beginners too. I love how simple and stunning it looks. I used a mint shade of Lion Brand’s Feels Like Butta yarn, which is a beautiful yarn to crochet with.

The video tutorial can be found here:

Crochet Mint Heart Sweater Pattern: the inspiration

I absolutely love this new sweater, I have to admit. A few months ago I purchased this beautiful yarn online, and couldn’t wait to crochet with it. This yarn is called Feels Like Butta by the Lion Brand, and it is super squishy and soft. This is one of the most beautiful yarns I have used, and I was very excited to use it. I had thought of using this yarn to crochet a sweater, and it took a few months for this heart sweater to come to life.

This is a perfect crochet sweater for beginners

Indeed, I love filet crochet which is a technique I used for this project. Filet crochet is perfect for crocheting different shapes in projects, such as hearts. I have already used this beautiful heart design a few weeks ago with The Sweet Love Regency Era Wrap.

I love the heart shapes on this crochet sweater. These shapes are present on the front and back of the project. I love this mint colored sweater which features three quarter sleeves and a lovely boat neck edging. Do you love filet crochet as much as me? I do love this jumper very much. This design is slightly cropped, but can be easily modify to make it longer.

Crochet Mint Heart Sweater Pattern: the technique

Filet crochet is perfect for creating different shapes and designs. I love using this technique, and have used it many times. Indeed, it uses a simple technique involving rows of Double Crochets. Chains and Double Crochets are alternated to create shapes amid rows of Double Crochets. I love this simple technique so much!

These hearts are so pretty!

I also used this technique last year for The Beautiful Lilac Cardigan. Again, the very simple repeat rows of Double Crochets create a beautiful design.

This is a very feminine project
Sleeves (make 2):

Ch 70 (74) [78] {82} *86* 90

1: DC in 4th ch from hook, and into each ch across until eor.

2: Ch 3 (counts as DC throughout), DC in 2nd and every DC from previous row until eor

3-20 (21) [22] {23} *24* 25: repeat row 2

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Once you have these 4 elements, you can start assembling your jumper together.

Assembling your jumper together:

Start by folding sleeves in half, and seaming the sleeves together, using tapestry needle and loose end.

With wrong side facing, place the back of your jumper onto a flat surface. Now place both front panels flat onto the back of the jumper. There is no gap for the neck and front part, meaning the back and front panels are completely on top of the other (see photo below).

Now sew the shoulder seams at the top of the jumper, using the mattress stitch.

Then attach sleeves to each side of the jumper, sew sleeves from the top of project, working all the way down to the bottom of the jumper. You can then sew the β€œback” side of the sleeve to the back side of the project. This creates a more seamless stitching.

Do this on both sides of the jumper for each sleeve and side of project.

Fasten off, tidy up all loose ends.

Sleeve cuffs:

Repeat this process on each sleeve.

Front Post Double Crochet: Wrap yarn around your hook, insert hook around the DC from previous row going from right to left in the front of stitch; pull up a loop, go through 2 loops, pull up a loop, go through 2 loops.

Back Post Double Crochet: Wrap yarn around your hook, insert hook around the DC from previous row going from right to left from the back of the stitch; pull up a loop, go through 2 loops, pull up a loop, go through 2 loops.

Attach yarn to cuff.

1: Ch 1 (turning chain), [SC into next 2 stitches, sk 1 stitch, SC into next 2 stitches until eor], sl st to 1st chain to close off round.

2: Ch 3 (counts as a DC), place a DC into next stitch until eor. Sl st to 1st ch 3 at beginning of round.

3: Ch 3 (counts as a BPDC), [Front Post Double Crochet into the next DC from previous row, Back Post Double Crochet into next stitch] until you reach the first ch 3, sl st to 1st ch 3 to close off round.

4: Ch 3 (counts as FPDC), [Back Post Double Crochet into the Front Post Double Crochet from previous row, Front Post Double Crochet into the Back Post Double Crochet from previous row] until eor. Therefore you will be alternating FPDC and BPDC from row to row, creating a ribbed effect.

5-6: repeat rounds 3 and 4, sl stitch to 1st ch to close off round.

Fasten off, tidy up all loose ends.

Bottom edging:

Attach yarn to the bottom edging of the jumper.

1: Ch 1 (turning chain), [SC into next 2 stitches, sk 1 stitch, SC into next 2 stitches until eor], sl st to 1st chain to close off round.

2: Ch 3 (counts as a DC), place a DC into next stitch until eor. Sl st to 1st ch 3 at beginning of row.

5-6: repeat rounds 3 end 4, slip stitch to 1st ch to close off round.

Fasten off, tidy up all loose ends.

Fasten off, tidy up all loose ends.
