Crochet Vintage Beauty Shawl Free Pattern: The Design
This crochet shawl is stunning, perfect for all seasons. This design features a delicate filet crochet pattern, and an intricate vintage border. The intricate vintage border is feminine and stunning; it adds a lot of dimension to this design.
Indeed, the main part of the shawl features a simple yet stunning filet crochet pattern. Once this lovely design is crocheted, an intricate and delicate border. This border has a very vintage vibe, and it really elevates this shawl design.
The Vintage Josephine Shawl I crocheted a few weeks ago features a vintage picot edging border. This time, I decided to crochet a larger, more intricate border. This was a first for me, and I am delighted with the result. This could well be one of my favorite vintage crochet designs I have ever created! I simply love it, and I know I will be crocheting this pattern many more times.
Crochet Vintage Beauty Shawl Free Pattern: The Yarn
For this new crochet shawl design, I used a yarn I had never had the opportunity to use before. Indeed, I crocheted this shawl with a unique and stunning American yarn called Vireo. This crochet yarn is by the brand called Universal Yarn. This unique and stunning yarn is made from 80% tencel and 20% wool.
This yarn comes in many different shades, and I used a very lovely orange shade called “Apricot Tart”. In French this yarn color is called “Tarte Aux Abricots” and I can’t explain how much I love this shade! It’s the perfect shade for the spring and summer, and yet it is also perfect for autumn and winter. All in all, I am over the moon with the end result of this project.
This yarn is considered to be of a Medium 4 weight, also known as Aran. I absolutely love this yarn, and am very excited to use it again very soon. The last time I used an Aran weight yarn, it was to crochet the Rose Button Bandana a few weeks ago. Please let me know if you enjoy crocheting with this type of yarn!
Crochet Vintage Beauty Shawl Free Pattern: A Victorian Inspired Design
It is no secret I love the 19th Century. Indeed, my Master’s thesis was on a prominent French painter of the Romantic Era (19th Century France). This new shawl design is inspired by the Victorian Era in different ways.
The Victorian Era is a period in British history that goes from 1837 to 1901. This encompasses what is known as Queen Victoria’s reign in England. The Victorian Era is synonymous with industrialization and the modernization of Europe; it also featured a lot of poverty (especially in London) and was a very crucial time in modern history. The fashion of the times was elegant and featured lots of accessories such as shawls, wraps and more.
The triangular shape of this shawl, and the large and lacy border are reminiscent of this elegant age. This shawl is delicate and features a unique yet simple triangle shape. The large and complex border is absolutely stunning, and looks exactly like a design that could have been crocheted during the Victorian era.
