Hi everyone, this week I am bringing to you the crochet Rose Whisper Shawl (free pattern). This crochet pattern is so feminine and lovely, and I hope you enjoy making it! Featuring a unique filet crochet stitch and shell stitch edging, this shawl is perfect for the Spring and Summer.

The video tutorial for this project can be found here:

Crochet Rose Whisper Shawl Free Pattern: A Filet Crochet Project

This crochet shawl pattern features a simple yet very feminine design. Indeed, a lovely filet crochet pattern is featured in this new shawl pattern. Once the main part of the wrap is crocheted, a delicate shell stitch border is added to the project.

I love this shawl pattern as it is both light weight and delicate. This shawl is perfect for the Spring and Summer, and can be crocheted in the space of a few hours. This Romantic Mesh Shawl from last year is also lovely and perfect for the lighter months.

If you are looking for another Spring/Summer shawl, you can have a look at this Edwardian Era wrap. This shawl is part of my Vintage Crochet Series; I love it so much and I hope you do too! The Vintage Crochet series is so feminine, and features a lot of different designs. This Edwardian Era Wrap features a more intricate pattern, if you want to crochet a more complex design.

I love crocheting new shawls and wraps, and I love bringing these to you. Let me know if you enjoy these as much as much as me!

Crochet Rose Whisper Shawl Free Pattern: A Simple Design

The Rose Whisper shawl is a V shaped pattern. I love these V shaped shawls, because I find they automatically carry a vintage vibe. The Romantic Prayer Shawl is one of my favorite crochet designs, and it also offers a very simple design too.

The Delicate Rose Shawl from last year is also a very pretty and unique crochet design. It was also one of my favorite projects to design. This Victorian shawl is also very pretty and unique; I love how intricate it looks too! The Vintage Lavender Shawl is very delicate and pretty, if you are looking for more V shaped crochet shawls.

This crochet design is made beginning at the widest point; then the pattern decreases from row to row to create the shape of the shawl. This is a great way of crocheting a pretty V shaped design.

I hope you enjoy this new crochet project, please let me know what you think of it!

Level: Easy/beginner

Gauge

Please note gauge is not crucial for completion of this project.

4” (10 cm): 17 stitches

4” (10 cm): 8 rows

Size of finished shawl (including border)

28” (71 cm) x 64” (163 cm) at largest point.

Notes

I will be using US terms (British terms in brackets).

This pattern is worked from the top down. This means we will be crocheting this shawl from the largest point (top), to the bottom, by decreasing row after row.

A simple shell stitch edging is added at the end of the project.

You will need

5 skeins of Emu Treasure DK or 2 skeins of Bernat Softee Baby in shade Baby Pink

A 4 mm crochet hook

A pair of scissors

A tapestry needle

Abbreviations

Ch: chain

St: Stitch

Sk: skip

Sl st: slip stitch

SC: Single Crochet (UK Double Crochet)

DC: Double crochet (UK Treble Crochet)

EOR: End of row

Pattern

Make a slip knot and ch 243.

Row 1: DC in 5th chain from hook; ch 1, sk 1 st, DC in next ch until eor.

Row 2: Turn your work, sl st through 1st 2 stitches (=1 square), ch 4 (=DC +1 ch), sk 1 st, DC into DC from previous row, [ch 1, sk 1 st, DC into DC from previous row] until last 2 stitches. Leave last 2 st unworked.

Row 3-58: Repeat row 2.

Do not fasten off.

Shell stitch edging

With yarn still attached to your shawl, do not turn your work; you will be working your shell stitch edging along the same edge where you just placed your last st.

Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch); place 7 DC into first ch 1 sp from previous row (= first shell st); place a SC into next ch 1 space from previous row to anchor down project.

[Go directly into next ch 1 sp, and place 7 DC into that, and SC into next ch 1 sp] until eor.

Fasten off.

You will only have part of the shawl’s edging done.

Attach yarn to where we began our border (the top of the β€œV” of the shawl); you should attach your yarn into the first ch 1 space next to where we placed your first 7 DC.

We are going to work a slip stitch through the first DC we placed there, and turn your work.

Now go directly into the next ch 1 space with 7 DC, and SC into the next ch 1 space until eor. Finish row with a SC.

Fasten off, tidy up all loose ends.
