Crochet Brigitte Hairband Free Pattern

Hi everyone, today I am bringing to you the crochet Brigitte Hairband (free pattern). This crochet project is part of my Vintage Crochet Series, and is inspired by the 1960s. Indeed, this headband is feminine and features two colors. I hope you enjoy this new crochet pattern!

The video tutorial can be found here:

Crochet Brigitte Hairband Free Pattern: The Inspiration

I love Vintage Crochet. Indeed, vintage crochet is often feminine and interesting too. This new crochet headband is so pretty and is inspired by the 1960s. The baby blue and ivory colors are beautiful and these colors are reminiscent of this era. Soft hues and feminine fashion were very mush in fashion in those days.

This hair scarf from a few years ago is also a lovely and feminine project from that era. Hair scarves, headbands and feminine accessories were so popular back then.

If you enjoy projects from the 1960s, you can also have a look at knit look short sleeve top. Β I love crochet projects and tutorials that features feminine projects. Like I said prior, headbands were very popular then too.Β

Flowers were also so popular, and this lovely flower headband is definitely inspired by the trends of the 1960s. This feminine Granny Square Headband is also inspired by this era. Last week I released this puff flower bag which is so pretty and features lots of multicolored flowers; this project is also a perfect example of the 1960s era.

Crochet Brigitte Hairband Free Pattern: The Yarn

For this project, I used one of my favorite yarns called Drops Muskat. I use this yarn a lot in the Spring and Summer. This is a 100% mercerized cotton available in many different colors, making it a great choice for most accessories!

Indeed, I have used this project quite a lot in the past few months. This puff flower bag is crocheted with this very yarn, and features five different colors. This daisy granny square from last week is also made with this lovely cotton yarn. This yarn is perfect for many different projects, including shawls and cardigans. The Constance Prayer Shawl is made with this yarn too.

Cotton yarn is perfect for a lot of different projects. If this specific yarn is not available where you live, just know that this is a DK/Light 3 yarn. So you can substitute Drops Muskat with any DK/Light 3 yarn of your preference.

Shell Stitch edging

Attach blue yarn to one angle of project. Ch 40, sl st through 2nd chain from hook until end of chain. Sl st through the first stitch where we began chain (this has created the first tie). We will be creating the shell stitch edging on the first side.

Shell stitch edging
Shell stitch edging

Row 3 (shell stitch edging): ch 3 (=DC), place 2 DC into same 1st st (= half shell of 3 DC); sk 2 st, SC into next st, * sk 2 st, 5 DC (=shell), sk 2 st, SC into next st*, repeat from * to * until last 3 stitches. Sk 2 st, place 3 DC into last stitch (=half shell).

Once you have reached the end of the row, sl stitch once through the last DC you placed on the shell stitch edging so as to work your hair tie symmetrically across the other side of the shell stitch edging (so that the hair tie is on the same level as the last row of HDCs, like on the other side where we placed the first hair tie).

Once you have placed your sl stitch, ch 40, and then slip stitch through the 2nd ch from hook; slip stitch through until end of chain.

To finish this row, sl st to the first stitch of headband to secure second hair tie.

Fasten off, tidy up all loose ends.

Repeat this process on the other side of this project (this is the side of the starting chain of project)

Take your project and turn it around, so as to work on the other side of it. This is the side of the beginning chains.

You need to repeat the shell stitch edging on this side of the headband.
